Six thousand six hundred sixty-six meters is a number that hides a secret. Four sides, like four faces of the Deity, look at the world. Lion, elephant, eagle, horse – symbols of the four cardinal directions, four elements, four truths.
On each of the slopes you can see the imprints of Buddha Shakyamuni or four “nails”, who, according to legend, visited Kailash in the 5th century BC. At the same time, the southern slope is marked with a huge swastika.
Here the divine and the earthly world, the individual and the cosmos come into contact. Here we come to our center in the mandala of the Universe. Perhaps this explains the incredible feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction experienced by anyone who has made this journey at least once. Fifty-two kilometers, like Ariadne’s thread, lead the traveler through the labyrinths of his own soul. Here, at a height where the air is thin and thoughts are pure, the gates to other dimensions open. Tibetans call pilgrimage “nekor”, a walk around a holy place or the path from ignorance to awakening. Kailash is considered sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon. Hindus believe that this is the abode of Shiva, Buddhists – that Buddha Demchog lives here, Jains – that their first tirthankara Rishabha achieved nirvana here, and Bons – that this is the place of the original creation. Kailash is Mount Meru, the axis of the world or the center of the universe.

The evening will be spent in a cozy atmosphere, where you will learn about the culture and traditions of Nepal, prepare for tomorrow and share expectations and plans for the upcoming trip.
Today we will go on a journey through the cultural space of Kathmandu and apply for a visa to China. Here, every temple is a portal to the past, and every stupa is an accumulator of karmic energy. We will visit ancient temples and monasteries where time has frozen like resin, and where you can hear the whisper of the Gods.
You will see Swayambhunath, the monkey temple where, according to legend, Buddha himself meditated, and Pashupatinath, the Shiva temple where cremation rituals are held, reminding us of the frailty of life. Kathmandu is home to the Goddess Kumari, a living embodiment of divinity in the body of a little girl. Locals believe that seeing the Goddess brings happiness for life.
You will stroll through the bustling markets of Kathmandu, where every street is a kaleidoscope of colors and smells, and every trader is a storyteller ready to tell you an amazing story. This day is not just an excursion, it is an immersion into a world where reality intertwines with myths, where the past and the present merge, creating a unique atmosphere.
In the morning we head to the bustling markets of Kathmandu to buy the missing equipment for our journey. Here, among the motley crowd, we choose warm jackets, sturdy boots, sleeping bags and other necessary things, feeling how with each purchase the long-awaited moment of meeting Kailash is getting closer.
After lunch, we leave the bustling city and head to Pharping, a small town nestled in a picturesque valley at the foot of the Himalayas. Here, away from the hustle and bustle, we will be immersed in the atmosphere of Tibetan Buddhism.

The morning of the fourth day of the journey begins with a walk around Pharping. We explore the mysterious caves where, according to legend, Guru Rinpoche himself, Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, meditated. It is believed that the energy of these caves helps to achieve enlightenment. Then we go to the Asura Monastery, where morning meditation awaits us. In this sacred place, surrounded by mountains, we immerse ourselves, tuning in to the wave of the upcoming journey.
After lunch, full of impressions and new strength, we leave Pharping and go to Langtang National Park. The road will take 4-5 hours, and during this time we will cover 80 kilometers, admiring the picturesque landscapes of the Himalayas.
Our destination is the village of Syabru Besi, located at an altitude of 2,340 meters above sea level. Here, at the foot of the mountains, we will stop for the night to rest and gain strength before crossing the border tomorrow.

Today we say goodbye to the green valleys of Nepal and head to mystical Tibet. We will pass through border control, get the coveted stamps in our passports and finally set foot on the land where time flows differently.
Our path lies in Kerung, a small town located at an altitude of 2840 meters above sea level. Kerung is our first step into Tibet, a city where cultures and traditions intertwine.
Here we will rest after a long journey, acclimatize to the altitude and prepare for new adventures that await us ahead. In the evening, we will stroll along the streets of Kerung, visit the local market and try traditional Tibetan cuisine.

After breakfast, we will begin our journey to the “happy land” of Saga, which lives up to its name and welcomes all pilgrims with its hospitable spirit.
On the way, we will climb through the Ghantu-La pass (5226 m), from where incredible views of the sacred Brahmaputra River, originating from the icy peaks of Kailash, open up.
Among the numerous mountain pearls that open up to the enchanted gaze, the eight-thousander Shisha-Pangma and the “turquoise lake” Peiku-Tso. Wild donkeys, mountain antelopes and other typical fauna of the Tibetan highlands are also encountered along the way. We will spend the night in Saga.

In the morning we will go to Darchen, which is also called the “base camp of Kailash”. For three hundred years, the place was in the possession of Bhutan. Once these were sparsely populated lands, where you could mainly see rare nomads. But with the development of tourism in the Kailash region, the city with a convenient location at the foot of the mountain has become a starting point for pilgrimage. Kailash is not yet visible from Darchen, but its power and alluring energy can already be felt.
We will spend the night in Darchen to gain strength before the upcoming trek around Kailash.

After resting in Darchen, in the morning we will go to the most sacred lake in Tibet – Manasarovar. This is the antipode of the lake of the “dark forces” – Rakshasa. Numerous Indian pilgrims come to Kailash only to take a dip in this lake and achieve liberation. Ritual ablution in it cleanses all negative karma and gives a blessing for long life and good luck.
Tibetans usually avoid full immersion in the sacred reservoir, which they call Mapam-Yumtso. It is considered great luck for them to collect some sacred water or sand from the lake, as well as to find a fish washed up on the shore. Such fish are considered a medicine and a liberating substance.
After meditation on the shore of the lake, we will make good aspirations and return to Darchen for the night, filled with the divine purity of the “lake of the mind”.

After breakfast, we will drive to the starting point of the trek. The trek passes through beautiful hills with waterfalls and endless blue skies above. The culmination is the encounter with the northern face of Kailash. Walking through the mountain gorges, you can reflect on how in life, too, we overcome all obstacles with discipline and a positive attitude. We can throw off the burden of accumulated experiences and enjoy the beauty of the present moment. The monasteries and caves along the way evoke awe and delight with their centuries-old history of devotion to the teachings of the primordial wisdom hidden in the heart of every living being.
A special moment will be the arrival at the monastery of Diraphuk with the cave of Gotsangpa, a yogi who first discovered the path around Kailash thanks to a dakini in the form of a female yak, in Tibetan “dri”. This story gave the name to the monastery, which literally translates as “cave of the horn of dri”. The snow-white stupas right in front of the northern face of Kailash are an iconic place for photographs.

Having seen the most beautiful sunrise with a view of Kailash, we will continue to explore the surrounding area. We will have a day of rest and acclimatization in Diraphuk, which will allow us to gain strength before the most difficult part of the route, the Drolma-La pass. We can devote this day to a journey into ourselves, which is motivated by the majestic presence of Kailash. Here in Diraphuk, Kailash is so close that it seems you can touch it. Opposite, there are three lower peaks, which represent the three protectors of the world – Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri and Vajrapani.
Diraphuka Monastery, located at an altitude of more than five thousand meters and founded in the 13th century, is one of the highest monasteries in Tibet. Mindful walking, meditation and breathing practices will help you get to know yourself better and prepare for the next day. In the evening, in a cozy circle, we will share our thoughts and insights.

Today’s journey begins before dawn. We will reach the highest point of the route, the sacred Drolma-La Pass, and test our physical and spiritual strength. The first pilgrims to Kailash were great yogis and lamas who practiced in the caves around the sacred mountain, such as the yogi Gotsangpa, the famous disciple of Milarepa. It is said that the yogis were led and accompanied by deities themselves, such as Chenrezig and Tara, sometimes presented in the form of animals, yaks or birds.
The eastern face of Kailash reminds us of the strength and dignity within us. The wonderful view of Gauri Kunda, the place where the goddess Parvati won the heart of Shiva with her repentance, will also not leave you indifferent and will be a reward for your efforts.
On the descent, we will visit the “cave of wonders” Zuthulphuk, where we will make our deepest wish. Milarepa’s cave in the center of the monastery is marked by paintings from the Drikung Kagyu lineage and the imprints of Guru Rinpoche and Yeshe Tsogyal. The most challenging day is over and we spend the night in magical Zuthulphuk

In the morning, we will trek to Darchen, where we can get acquainted with local crafts and culture at colorful markets and taste traditional Tibetan cuisine. We will visit Chiu Gompa and other local monasteries, and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.
Chiu Gompa is notable for its belonging to the old Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, while most of the monasteries on the kora belong to the later Kagyu and Gelug schools. That is why the central place in the monastery of the eighth century is occupied by a statue of Padmasambhava, and it is built next to the cave where the Lotus-Born Master from Oddiyana, whom Tibetans revere as the second Buddha, meditated.
By combining the cultural experience of visiting the sights of Darchen and the spiritual experience of walking the kora, we will be able to feel our journey more deeply.
